HORRIBLE HOTEL! Can’t believe I paid USD240/night to stay in this poorly maintained and poorly managed hotel. Pictures from official website are total lies! In actual fact, this place is old, not clean and lack of upkeep. DIRTY ROOM - dusty wall/ceiling, musty smell, stained toilet / bathtub, black gunk all around faucets and shower head… Room was unbelievably old and filthy! It just gave me chills. Ended up I wasn’t able to sleep the whole night. DISGUSTING PUBLIC AREA - Sticky / dirty floors everywhere, be it the lobby, restaurant, elevators, staircases and guest corridors. POOR SERVICE - front desk staff not professionally trained and not willing to help when assistance needed. An older freak who claimed to be the night shift manager was especially RUDE, he was screaming, pointing fingers, looking mad, when refusing to help with ferry reservation. Due to language barrier, I wasn’t able to understand what he was screaming about but his insane body language told me he said “I won’t help, do it yourself”. A hell-like hotel! Won’t recommend to anyone.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel yet. - Foods & Drinks all great, but the dining situation is quite chaotic and can be intimidating if you've never been in a buffet situation in Asia before. Its all men for themselves. - Staff, super friendly, and best English I've ever encountered in Japan. They could use some more help in the dining area, the staff are good, but overworked. -Rooms, the rooms are in desperate need of a renovation. Tired doesn't begin to describe them. They give haunted abandoned hotel vibes. They must have been last renovated over 30 years ago.

Fair at this price. Hotel location is very close to the scenic points nearby. We did not join the buffet plan. Room service included free onsen but remember to bring towels to the onsen! Onsen at b/f is big. Internet is quick and air con is good. Tatami not too hard and hot water quite strong.

We had a pretty horror experience here. The worst issue was our room was on floor 1, and overnight even though all the windows were closed the room filled with extremely strong sulphur fumes from the nearby volcano, making it difficult to breathe overnight. We basically didn't get any sleep and had to turn the aircon on full and have our hallway door open to vent out the fumes. The hotel has around 500 rooms, so it was crazy busy and there wasn't anyone to really talk to about the issue + check out is done via a self service computer. So we weren't really able to get any assistance with the issue. It was so bad we had to check out a day early and find a new hotel elsewhere. The hotel didn't respond to attempts to contact them later to try and get some form of resolution for the situation, or even just an apology. Even if it wasn't for the minor detail of not being able to sleep/breath in our room, we didn't enjoy the hotel regardless. It's just far too big a hotel, with too many guests, which leads to situations like the buffer dinner/breakfast just being an absolute zoo. Japanese people are polite and courteous most of the time, but stick over 100 of them at a buffet and it becomes a bit of a free for all mess. The rooms on level 1 weren’t great either, they were fairly old and tired. It was just a thoroughly unpleasant experience, with no real redeeming qualities.

A pretty spacious hotel with 3 connected buildings. The main facilities like front, comic corner, public bath, entertainment area locate in building A. Dining hall is in building B. Open air baths is on the top of building C. So it might take you some times to reach somewhere. Public bath in building B, only 1 room alternating the time for male and female, is pretty hugh. Though, the open air baths, 2 separated room for male and female, overlooking the view of the big lake nearby, is comparatively smaller. Dining hall is quite spacious, but I found it was very crowded on Saturday night when the hotel was almost fully booked. They tried to manage the amount of people by scheduling the guests and limiting the time but they lacked the management at the site so everybody just ate freely. The entertainment area and comic (Japanese only) corner are impressive. They also have small karaoke boxes for you. The Japanese styled room is up to standard. Plus, it had small bath and toilet in case you don't feel like going to a public one.
