  Great place to stay calm and peaceful. It doesn’t have fancy luxurious surrounding. However you can experience history and super kind hospitality. Recommend you to feel vibe the ryokan, it’s own.

  My partner and I went in May 2023. It was such a special place! The place is run so beautifully and the hosts are so lovely. It’s very special, because you can reserve the private Onsen on a time table schedule - the Onsen is outside and without a roof. It is truly magically when it rains and you are in the hot water! They is another Onsen inside but separated between men and women. When we arrived, we got to choose our Yucata and the food was delicious as well!

  One of the most memorable accommodations I have stayed. The moment we stepped in, we immediately felt welcomed by calming music and Mr Kenji who guided us through the check in till we reached our room. I was at first apprehensive about having to share bathroom as it's just me and my 12 yr old daughter. However all our worries were unfounded as there a quite a few bathrooms near your rooms and they are spotlessly clean. What really amazed us is the effort to make the place looks really really old for us to time travel with creaking floor and all but yet, like what my daughter said, looks very old but yet very very 'modernly' comfortable. There was no old musty smell and we were actually trying to spot mold and specks of dust but could find none. I also realised that they do make an effort to improve on the comments from previous reviews such as providing extension cords 👏 The private onsen and public bath are amazing. I am truly happy that me and my daughter get to experience a night here. We wished we could stay longer! ❤️

  Wonderful service and lovely staff! The traditional Japanese aesthetic gives you a healthy dose of culture, really adds to the immersion of your trip. Also, If you left something of value accidentally, don't hesitate to email them. They were very prompt to answering my emails and they have been extremely helpful in getting my valuables back to me. Definitely come here if you're in Beppu!

  An absolute gem! We had a fantastic experience. The hotel is a very traditional ryokan, the tatami mattresses are very comfortable and the private onsen very nice. The best about our stay though was the great service and warm welcome by Kenji, who even helped us arrange a fantastic vegetarian dinner at a restaurant he knew, when we were desperate to find a nice place to eat at on our last night in Japan. Thank you so much!
