  Visited this place last month. The best unagi restaurant in the area with over one hundred years of history. Inexpensive and tastes good. It is a must go place when you are in Fukuoka.

  If you’re considering whether to eat this, just do it! I’m not even a unagi lover and yet I found this heavenly. It’s charcoal grilled to perfection, as evidenced by the heavily sooted wall. Visited in April 2024 and it was 1.30pm when we were there, so fortunately there wasn’t any queue as the office crowd was leaving. They have an English menu, so it’s easy for tourists. We ordered the set meal of 4 pieces of unagi (¥3,070) and instantly regretted not ordering the 8 pieces set (¥5,270) 🤣 A cash-only place.

  The third Thursday of every month is also a day off. On Sundays and public holidays, the shop will close at 6:30.

  This is the classic unagi don that one does not find in the typical commercial and chain restaurants in town. Impressively unique and yet not overbearing slight hint of smokiness to the eel. Rice perfectly marinated. Awesome. Quaint and family run business.

  Authentic Japanese grilled eel rice. Amazing quality and taste awesome. Owner very friendly as well. 10 minutes walk from Karatsu train station. Highly recommended.
