::Very nice place. Great open air bath, great food, clean linens, clean facilities and nice staffs. The water is hypotonic acid hot spring without circulation and chlorine. The water temperature is not too hot so you can stay in for long time. The water is cloudy white with a smell of hydrogen sulfide. Simmered coy fish in sweetened soy sauce was excellent. The road to this place is narrow and steep.

::One of my favorite ryokans about 5 hours north of Tokyo. It is quite remote, only accessible by car and without any cell service or Internet. There are several mixed outdoor baths that afford beautiful views of the mountains. A very good spot for couples who want to be able to enjoy the onsen together.

::A very nice Japanese style inn deep in the rugged valley with incredibly beautiful outdoor hot springs, serving delicious and super healthy local country style meals. Easy to get to with their free car service from and to the nearest station. Highly recommended.
