The Moon beach museum resort is in a very convenient location. They have a great private beach to swim at surrounded by beautiful gardens which reminds me of Hawaii and Guam. They have two great outdoor and indoor pools. It also has a spa / Onsen & Gym. There is few good restaurants nearby plus a couple of convenience stores / Fuel station. Its also about a 8 minute drive to Ishikawa which has a Max Valu and McDonalds etc. The complementary breakfast was good and I had no real complaints as it was part of my online booking deal via Qantas travel. Rooms were clean and the cleaning staff were excellent if you wanted that extra towel and water etc. Only negative feedback I’ll give is you can only swim on the beach between 09:00 - 18:00. Not sure why as the beach is shark netted? They charge you 500yen a day ( max 3 days ) to park your car even if you are a guest. So it’s like $15 AUD all up. The checkin staff are bloody hopeless. They can’t speak English so it’s handy if you have questions ready to go on the google translate. The room doors are outdated and don’t have that card swipe system? Btw… they only give you one key. This had me stumped?? Just demand another spare key and they will reluctantly give you one. All in all it was great resort and we enjoyed it.

Join us as we spend a weekend at the Moon Beach Museum in Onna, Okinawa, Japan, celebrating our anniversary with the kids. Despite the humid first impression and some unexpected costs, we had an overall enjoyable experience. The hotel staff were friendly, but if you’re not a residential member, perks like complimentary breakfast buffet tickets aren’t included. The beach had a lot of rules, including mandatory parental supervision, which meant our kids kept getting the whistle blown at them. We also had to pay $35 for an umbrella and two lounge chairs, which we felt should have been complimentary for guests. The lagoon pool only has limited lounge chairs and umbrellas, and as non-members, we couldn’t sit in the shaded area. There was also a language barrier when we tried to find out how to become members. Additionally, while enjoying the beach at night, we had to get bug repellent to handle the mosquitoes. Despite these challenges, we had a great time exploring the amenities and the beautiful surroundings. If we visit again, we might just opt for a day pass instead of staying overnight. During a recent visit to Okinawa, I opted for a day pass to explore the amenities of the Moon Beach Hotel and Resort without an overnight stay. The day pass was priced at 2000 JPY, which allowed me full access to the hotel's beach and pool facilities. Lobby and Entrance: Upon arrival, the beauty of the lobby immediately struck me. It's elegantly themed to reflect the tropical environment, providing a warm and inviting entrance that sets a promising tone for the visit. Beach and Pool: The proximity of the beach to the pool is a standout feature, allowing for seamless transitions between lounging by the water and taking a dip in the pool. Both areas are well-maintained, with clean toilets and wash facilities enhancing the experience. However, it's important for day visitors to note that while in-house guests receive complimentary beach towels, those using a day pass must pay additional fees for beach towels as well as parasols. Fitness Gym: I also paid an additional 1100 JPY to access the fitness gym, a decision that, in hindsight, I regret. The condition of the gym equipment was disappointing. Much of it appeared to be over 20 years old, showing significant signs of wear such as rust on the dumbbells, bars, and machines. Some of the machines felt unsafe to use, particularly due to broken locking pins on the weight slots, posing a potential safety hazard. Furthermore, the absence of drinking water in the gym was a notable oversight, as staying hydrated is crucial when exercising. Overall Experience: The pool and beach are undoubtedly the highlights of the Moon Beach Hotel and Resort for a day visitor. These areas are beautifully maintained and provide a delightful environment for relaxation and enjoyment. However, I would advise against using the gym facilities until substantial refurbishments are made to ensure safety and improve the overall quality of the equipment. The stark contrast between the pristine condition of the lobby and pool areas and the dilapidated state of the gym was quite jarring. Until these issues are addressed, the gym does not offer a good value for the price or a safe environment for workouts.

This hotel is okay. It’s split into two seperate hotels with no information given about check in for each side. The rooms are dated and pillows are rock hard. They tried to charge us 500yen per day to park at the hotel. They also will try and charge you to sit at the beach under an umbrella. If you are staying here it’s best to make sure you have a rental car to get around to eat at other places and explore. The hotel was also packed with kids on school excursions running around everywhere. It feels like this hotel is stuck in the 90’s and needs a bit of an update.

Great beach. Older resort but rooms were renovated and very nice. Stayed in a mixed western and tatami room. Balcony view of the ocean. 2 very nice pools and a beautiful beach. Convenience stores and good restaurants are very close to the resort in nearby town. About a 45 min drive from airport to resort via coach bus.
