A real disaster. The food is ok, but I'm sure there are better sushi places in Kyoto. The worst thing is the chaos they have. Half of the order they didn't serve us, they must have taken it to another table or whatever, but they still charged us for it. Not worth the wait. An overrated place that may be dying of success. I wouldn't go back

Great spot for cheap and tasty sushi along the river. As an American, this is not the best sushi I’ve had in Japan or elsewhere, but it is some of the cheapest and quality is still pretty good. All two piece nigiri is 220 yen ($1.40 at current exchange rate) whether it’s salmon, chutoro, unagi, or scallop (around 40 total nigiri options). As others have mentioned, it’s definitely worth it to show up early and make sure to get your name down at the front of the line next to the front door. The line literally means nothing, the list is what matters and how they will call out who is to be seated next. Parties of 4 or more can make a reservation ahead of time, so if you’re still planning a trip and are 4+ people make sure to do that and you’ll skip the line. All parties have up to 90 minutes but I promise you’ll be full before that. All in all it was well worth the price and we had a blast sitting at the sushi counter and watching the masters go to work.

Great placed for cheap good quality sushi. There is always a line up so try getting there before or around opening time. They do have English menus and you can easily order by pointing at what you want.

A lot of people rave about this place so I decided to give it a try. This place was decent, alright for the price. Pros: friendly staff/decent price sushi Cons: sushi didn’t seem that fresh…

Best sushi experience in Japan! If you want to eat here, get in line by at least 4:45pm and make sure you go to the front and put your name down on the list before waiting in line! They call people based on that list. The sushi is made right in front of you from the fish that’s sitting on ice right there and wow - amazing ingredient quality & delivery! The chefs are efficient and friendly. We spent $30USD for what would have easily been $80+ in the US.
