::The outdoor onsen is amazing... Almost a natural onsen. The view is amazing and the shirogane water falls is just five min walk from here. Lovely place

::We visited the hotel for two nights as a break for a couple of days while back country ski touring. The hotel is well placed very close to the waterfalls and they provide daily service to the blue pond. The dinner provided is fantastic with a nice selection of traditonal food and reasonably priced drinks. Breakfast similar (perhaps not quite as good as dinner but still great). Onsen is great with multiple temperature pools and inside and outside baths. Perfect for relaxing weary skiing muscles! The pools could possibly do with an extra scrub, as the bottom was quite slippery and I saw two people slip as entering. The rooms are well sized by japanese standards with traditional tatami matts and futons for sleeping. No smell of smoke in the room we stayed in, but looking at other reviews your mileage my vary. The only issue for western folks might be the pillows... Tiny sacks of buckwheat. Suggest using your jacket instead or spare clothes :) In additon suggest using the onsen as primary washroom as the ensuite is miniscule and if your taller than 6.2 youll not fit in there. The only let down was the attitude of the daytime front desk manager who clearly has an issue with foreigners (and didnt realise our group could speak fluent japanese) who was super rude. Vacuming up while we were sitting in the foyer giving us death stares and then muttering about foreigners... Not a a good look and incredibly unprofessional.

::The hotel provides pick up service from stations. Very convenient. The staff was friendly and helpful. When our train was late, he helped us adjust the pick up time. In the evening, it also provided free tour to the nearby beautiful pond with illumination. The food was nice, and room was also comfortable. Only two disadvantages, the outside onsen water was too cold so it was not available, and the strange heater made some noises (probably ice melting in the pipe) at 7 o’clock in the morning, which waked me up. Overall, it’s still a good choice for staying one night!

::The staff were ok and had ok English skills. The rooms are fairly large for Japanese standards but are also very old. My room did not have air conditioning working so it was very hot. The room also had a cigarette smell as all the rooms in this hotel are smoking. There is no wifi in the room so if you require it, you need to get a sim card/pocket wifi or use wifi in the lobby. The best part of this hotel is the selection of Hot Springs. There are both outdoor and indoor onsen which are well maintained and the temperature is comfortable. Breakfast is also provided and is similar to the breakfast buffets in other hotels. The location is very close to the Shirahige Waterfall (walkable distance) and the blue pond but far from everything else (thus only advisable to stay here if you are driving).

::Our room is the tatami type and there isn't any welcome snack in our room as compare to the other ryokan hotel we been to. The package come with breakfast and kaiseki dinner in room, but for the price we paid per night, we find it not worth the value as the kaiseki dinner is just average. There isn't any Wi-Fi , so it best to bring your own Wi-Fi router. There is public bath / onsen in the hotel. There is a game room, bar, karaoke room , a shop at the lobby which close at 9pm. This hotel is near to blue pond and there are other hotels beside.
