::Oh my gosh this was a such a lovely place. Everyone was so nice and the service was amazing. We spoke to the daughter of the owners on our way out and she took our picture for us. Of course, as others have said, the dinner and breakfast are amazing. It's actually quite a lot of food so you won't go hungry. They were also okay that we had tattoos and told us we were allowed to use their onsen which was such a pleasant surprise! One of them is heated sea water! Felt like a dream. For American travelers though I will give you a heads up about Japanese pillows. My husband was in love with how firm they are but I have a little bit of a bad back so I had some trouble. Just a heads up! You could probably work out a solution with them to get something softer but we were only there for one night and I was determined to sleep like the locals. I was too soft I guess. 🤣

::Beautiful ryokan halfway across the islands, and great for a stop and rest for the night. Some of the rooms have private bathrooms and some don’t, so note which type of room you are booking if you want your own shower and/or bath. Otherwise the shared bathroom is functional enough. Also note that making a booking doesn’t mean a reservation for dinner. We had to ask the chef to accomodate us as our room booking didn’t include dinner. Suggest that when you are booking, to send an email and make a reservation for dinner. Food is lovely and the service was wonderful. Made our trip extra nice.

::Great experience! They were kind and accommodating even though I spoke to them with limited Japanese via google translate. The yuzu ice cream dessert was amazing!

::This was our first experience of a Ryokan guest house so we have nothing to compare it to. It was very much a new experience for us. This has a specialist fish restaurant so if you are not prepared to have a lot of fish selection for dinner and breakfast then you may not enjoy. However, we did and tried things we have never had before. The staff are very welcoming and attentive and go out of their way to help.

::Very nice Ryokan if you are planning on taking the Shimnami kaido cycling route. We paid 32000 yen for 2 people which in was a great value in my opinion. It came with dinner and breakfast, check out the photos! There's even a seawater onsen in the inn, a perfect break for cyclists!
