::Great place to enjoy one full day while sumo competition is on. Buy lunch box and get regular seats instead of those with curl feet. Nearly every seat is good and can view clearly. Go early to print out prepurchased ticket at front door then relax and come back around 2 pm to watch the famous sumo wrestlers enter. Competition ends sharp at 6pm, starts at 9am. Well worth the ticket price.

::Incredible experience, and well worth the cost! You need to book almost two months in advance, the day the tickets go on sale. If there's an option to include food in your pre-paid package, skip that. Trust the reviews. The bento boxes for sale at the place are resonably priced and delicious. Sumo staple food, chank nabe, was being sold in a dining room in the basement for very cheap.

::I remember watching Takamura Mamoru fight Brian Hawk and I thought, it was a splendid fight. Go Takamura San, bring the belts back to Japan

::Fantastic experience even if not a big Sumo fan. Probably best to go with a local to help understand any subplots and form guides. Check out the hand prints at Ryogoku train station.

::As a foreigner, the place seemed a lot easy even to travel alone. Quite difficult to get tickets for any day, luckily I got a Friday ticket for 5,100 yen which was worth it as it's valid for the whole day. Matches begin quite early @8am but the main tournament begins @2:30 PM. You can see the sumo wrestlers up and close coming near the south gate. There are lot of food and drink options which are reasonably priced, outside food and drinks aren't allowed. You have a beer and enjoy the match.
