  A classic, quirky kissaten. Dark wood, red velvet, and classical music. Try the coffee with the tiny jug of brandy.

  The owner of this old-fashioned 'kissaten' coffee shop has been the same lovely elderly woman since I first came here in 1998. I make a point of coming by almost every time I'm in Koenji. The interior is ancient red velvet and dark wood and the music strictly classical. The coffee is fine, but you really come here to feel like you've traveled back in time. A good place to think and talk and read.
