Great base for exploring Fuji Very well organised hostel well located in Fujiyoshida. It is well situated very close to the station and a short walk to all the tourist hotspots. Particularly useful for a quick walk to the Chureito Pagoda when the skies oblige. The start of the Fuji yoshida trail is around 45 minutes away on foot. A convenience store around a five minutes walk towards the station. The staff were all very helpful and provided clarity on onward travel options. All English speaking and knowledgeable, not to mention friendly. The actual facilities were better than expected with a nice balcony allowing for watching Fuji at all times, watching the lights at night on the mountain is a bonus. The dorms are well organized and wifi consistent throughout. The beds are comfortable and surprisingly private and large lockers provided for bags to avoid annoying other guests. Very clean and well maintained the hostel provides an ideal base for independent exploration of the Fuji area. We ate twice in the Phillipine restaurant near the station which we enjoyed for something different and satisfying.

Mixed stay, good and bad points. Good, - beds are comfortable - Michael and his staff are very helpful and friendly - WiFi - location Bad, - needs a lot more ac. I think there’s two ac units in the whole place. One poor ac unit for a room of 10 people? Seriously needs to be looked at. Extremely difficult to sleep in. - nowhere to leave bags on day of check in or check out. Massive inconvenience when you pay a good price to stay here.

It's very cramped in the dorms, and there is little space in general. I was shown to dorm A and told to use a bottom bunk bed (contrary to what the owner says in their answer, I was not given a choice, so maybe not all their staff follow the same training), and I had to be very careful not to dunk my head all the time as it was very low. There wasn't even a small shelf for me to put my glasses on while I slept, so it's an unpractical hostel if you ask me. There is also little privacy as it's so cramped there. You're constantly walking on someone's toes. The staff are very nice, however, and they answer all questions you may have about climbing Mt Fuji. They also lend me a pair of walking sticks for when I climbed, and it really helped me! Nice play to stay for one or two nights, but 4 nights like I did was a bit rough.

Thank you for having me. Beds are comfy and it's very clean and well planned. The only thing I miss is a bigger common area for breakfast and hanging out. It's a bit small, but very cozy hallway. I understand it's not something they can change easily. I just came here to climb Mt Fuji and I had a good rest there. Please read all the information at the hostel about the mountain if you plan to go, fill out the form for the police for your safety if you go off season and ask the staff too. Be safe.

A perfectly good, clean hostel with comfy beds in dorms, no issues there. The walls are thin but it's a small building in Japan, to be expected. There is no common area but not an issue for a few days. Staff friendly and helpful, the owner however appears to be well overdue retirement. Constantly complaining about guests, both to the guests themselves and in earshot of everyone else. Unprofessional and just plain rude at times. Yes it's important for guests to be respectful in their arrival times and conduct etc, however guests are exactly that - paying 'guests' - often on their dream holiday and do not deserve this lack of respect. Time to sit back and let the young ones run the show I think. A perfectly good hostel but left feeling sorry for other guests and his staff team.
