::Leave your troubles behind and emerge recharged from this fairy tail-born ryokan. One exterior mixed pool is available, which is great if you are travelling with your partner. No shampoo is provided (the norm in Aomori prefecture). Other than just your mind, nurture your body by booking a half board meal plan and don't look back. Expect no electrical sockets and no GPRS connectivity.

::We tried to stay here in the fall and when we arrived only 1 onsen was available and the smell of the kerosene was overwhelmingly strong. We asked politely to get a partial refund because we did not stay only 20 minutes and the staff was extremely rude to us. :/

::To reach this place, have to drive up a long narrow winding road. (Of course, can arrange for the bus) There is no electric outlet in the room. There is not even have any mobile network. The hotel has no wifi. The oil lamp is quite dim at night. I need to use a touch to see what I was eating at dinner. But this is the charm of this place. Because of the dim light, we can see the star clearly at night. I find the place very comfortable and relaxing. I also find the place beautiful. Do take note, the outdoor onsen water is only lukewarm. During the autumn nights (when I visited), it could be quite cold to bath outdoor. And also to take note that, they only accept cash there.

::This place was amazing! We were at the far back of the hotel right above the women and men's onsen and rotenburo across from the unisex rotenburo. We were finally able to enjoy rotenburo with our whole family. Dinner and breakfast were amazing. The two downsides were the crazy road up and down the mountain which had me terrified, and our daughter got stung by abu. At dinner and especially breakfast there are a lot of bees, be cautious and don't bother them and you should be fine. Our daughter was fine until one crawled near her neck and panicked her. The waterfall right outside our room was immensely beautiful, with the sound of running water peaceful. Our two kids were the only kids there and this is likely best as a spot for romantic getaways. This will likely be a once in a lifetime stay for our family and it was totally worth it, even though we had to cut our stay short one day.

::This place is really special. I loved the old school atmosphere. It’s also a very traditional Japanese accommodation, so expect everything that comes with it- sleeping on futons, sitting on the floor, etc. All my cup of tea, so I loved it. Going on a digital cleanse felt great, and the place was beautiful in winter. The only reservation I have to say is that there isn’t anything to do here besides soak in the (multiple and varied) onsens. I came here alone for 2 days expecting more activities, but it was in such an isolated location that there wasn’t anything else to do. Next time I won’t come by myself. BTW, if you meet fellow guests while you’re there without technology, don’t do the same mistake as me and forget to ask for their phone number :( the ryokan couldn’t find his name on their system for some reason. That was a bummer.
