しま
::Visited on weekdays in September 2024. A local supermarket in Yonezawa, located a 5-minute walk from the station. Enjoy the local vegetables and fruits that are unique to Yonezawa. I was able to buy a bag of economical pears for 498 yen (8 Bartletts), a bag of thin-skinned round eggplant for 380 yen, pickled eggplant mix, and a Toko 4-go bottle as cheap souvenirs. The dried foods used in local cuisine, such as shrunken konnyaku and pounded beans, were also interesting. It was fun to get a glimpse of the local life.
ぺろぺろ
::It looks old, but the selection is not bad! The fish and side dishes look especially good!
ハマーンカーン
::It's a locally owned supermarket, and I feel a little out of place in my travel clothes. The target is the local specialty "Yonezawa beef". At the souvenir shop near the station, you can find high-quality ingredients starting from the 5,000 yen range, while at the meat section here you can find Yonezawa beef cuts starting at 600 yen for 100g. Even if I bought 300g for 3 family members, I received change for 2000 yen. The cost performance is great, thank you very much.
maru choko
::It's a community-based grocery store that's perfect for locals, and you can easily buy it (sandals or sweats?). If you want to eat fresh fish, choose this place. However, the parking lot is very crowded depending on the time of day.
Gratitude walk
::I think it's good that it's like a local supermarket and has a lot of local foods. However, I don't think they can compete with the big companies in terms of facilities and cleanliness, but a store like this for the common people represents the face of the town, so I hope they continue to do their best.
