::This place is a scam. We booked a room with them through airbnb and the room was full of bugs. Basically this onsen runs a rundown building across the main one as their airbnb scam. When we initially booked the room, the listing mentioned that there was only one picture for the listing and the host later told us it was because the property was undergoing renovations. However, upon arrival, it became immediately clear that this was a lie. The front door was broken, compromising both security and comfort. Only the entrance living space appeared as the picture; the rest of the building was in a deplorable state. There was a persistent smell of mold and dust throughout the property. Bugs were crawling everywhere, and the entire building clearly had not been cleaned in a really long time. The room was infested with bugs, with insects present on the bed sheets, on the floor, and dead bugs scattered throughout. The paper walls were peeling off, and there were stains everywhere. The staff seemed fully aware of the poor conditions. We immediately checked out because it was not possible to sleep in that room.

::Very dirty places, there were quite a few cockroaches, and the sheets were poorly washed. The staff very rude. In addition, after eating in their restaurant I got sick, I think the fish was not fresh, I had to go to the doctor to give me some medicine. I really don't recommend this place

::We really loved our stay at Hotel Roan! The service was excellent, staff were so helpful and recommended activities for us to do in the area. The onsen is currently not active but the private bath is lovely, a stone pool in an outdoor setting, you can relax after skiing while watching the snow fall. Food was excellent using produce from the area - wild boar, tofu, trout. A hidden gem off the beaten path, highly recommend!

::You can enjoy warm family-run hospitality, delicious gibier dishes and hot springs. They have a bearutiful story why and how they built this hotel for regional development.

::From the beautiful nature surrounding the hotel to the calm and warm staff that will always help you with a smile, everything about this place is relaxing. The room is big, comfortable, and quiet. Traditional japanese style (which I found is better for my back). The onsen is big and has many amenities, with hot termal water that comes straight out of the mountains. And the restaurant is simply something out of a movie. Every single piece on their menu is a work of art. From sushi to barbecued fish, tofu and wild boar. So many delicious things to chose from. Having dinner or breakfast there you will feel in another time in history. You will exit this hotel happier and more relaxed.
