::Cute and modest hotel literally right outside of the kakunodate station. We were here in the winter so the town was very quiet but it was cute anyways and easy to travel if you have a JR Pass as Shinkanzen also stops at this station. We also took the Akita-Naraiku Line (JR Pass does not cover) for sightseeing and it was great.

::If you're up for a kakunodate Matsuri express visit. THIS is the hotel to stay at. The rooms are spacious and clean, they're inmideately next to the Shinkansen station, allowing you ample time to prepare on your next connection.

::A somewhat basic hotel with a great location if travelling by train, right next to the station. As a disadvantage, it's a bit of a walk, around 20 minutes, to the attractions in town. Washing machines are available in the hotel.

::The location of the hotel is extremely convenient as the hotel building is situated right next to the Kakunodate Station, but if you walk from here to the tourist spots in samurai district, it will be quite a long walk especially in cold weather. We stayed here for fall foliage in early Nov and we drove to the samurai district. The room was of average size and it was clean and comfortable. The staff was helpful. An average buffet breakfast was included in the room price. Free parking at the back of the hotel was available. The room price was reasonable.

::This hotel is right outside the train station so the location can't be beaten. I was concerned about the noise from the train, so I requested a quiet room. They gave me a room with no neighbors but the room was facing the train tracks. But I could barely hear the trains in the morning. The light-blocking curtains and comfy bed also helped to ensure I had a good night's sleep. Staff was friendly and welcoming.
