  Not easy to arrive but extremely worthy! Staffs are friendly and foods are unbeatable! Special atmosphere to live in a hotel on the mountain!

  This stay was the highlight of our shikoku experience. Stars at dusk and clouds by dawn. We were in the 211 section; those rooms only have toilet, no shower room. Communal shower is down the hall and as usual it's great. Food is great - u have to bear in mind that u r at the peak of a mountain where food is scarce so I'm grateful of the spread that took alot of visible effort to prepare. u can skip the planetarium 1 hr screening. it's in japanese and not that wow. It would be if it was a collection of the reels/clips by influencers documenting shikoku. a suggestion perhaps? Only the bookings next to the observatory are allowed to star gaze with the giant telescope. But honestly at 8pm, the sky was filled with stars. the guide spoke only Japanese. take it all in within 15min, thats all u need. Sunrise is supposedly 7am but get ready at the L2 balcony by 6am. the 云海 (ocean of clouds) is a sight to behold, an experience worthy to enjoy. Ensure the journey up is the safe detour 439 then 304 instead of the shorter straight lane up. We arrived early Feb so the snow on the winding lanes were light. All was perfect. Thank u hoshifuru.   Very nice. But if you are visiting for star watching be very aware of the weather forecast. The electric assist mountain bike rentals were great! The bikes were top of the line Trek bikes. Beautiful scenery. Great walking paths. Warm and friendly staff.

  Stunning view of the mountains. I couldn't see the starry sky because of fog. The trail up from hotel up to the mountain 天狗之森 took around 1.5 hour+ round trip (1km long one way; 150m uphill). Very nice trail. Highly recommended if you like hiking.

  Hotel is perfectly situated between a hiking trail and 五段城, very lovely mountain view, friendly staff, nice local meals, generally clean, hot bath facility, reasonable prices. The drive uphill is very winding and single lane for both ways, with limited signage, suggest to reach hotel before sunset (~6pm in October time). Free star-watching tour at night (need to dress warm). Also watched a beautiful sunrise. Definitely will come back again.
