  Such an amazing couple of days at the hoshi onsen retreat! Friendly staff, great service, clean rooms and clean onsen’s. Such a beautiful location and an incredibly enjoyable and relaxing couple of days. Highly recommend.

  Very nice and rustic onsen. Although there were too many tourists, the traditional inn was still one of the bucket lists for us. Located deep in the beautiful mountains, you are greeted with the greenery and forest, combined with the streams surrounding the inn. The environment was chill and soothing. Our room was ample. Typical japanese standard cleanliness. Quiet and comfortable. Onsen, the main bath was carbonate water, slightly alkaline pH. You will get some bubbling over your skin, cleaning all your pores. Water temperature was just about right. Chojukan was a very beautiful onsen "hall". Food quality was ok. You can have horse and deer sashimi on the add-on menu.

  Getting to the location was in itself an adventure as it requires taking the train and two buses. The experience was absolutely fantastic - the property and bath houses are absolutely gorgeous and made the trek well worth it. I wanted to stay at a traditional ryokan and couldn't have asked for a better location. The staff were friendly and the food delicious. Was definitely one of the top highlights from my entire trip to Japan and I hope to return one day.

  Very unfriendly person at the reception, hotel was not answering to emails in addition. Wrong information on the homepage. Due to that our waiting time would increase sharply. Asked to wait for 1.5 hours outside in the cold car. Hotel manager was not capable to understand the problem from their side. Don't do it if you don't need. Skip this place.
