::Just went to my first maid cafe and...... Wow. That was incredibly dissaponting. First, we waited about 40 minutes in line. We got handed off to 4 different maids, and only saw them when the food came. The time between drinks, the food coming out, and dessert was 20 minutes a pop. (So like, 20 minutes for drinks, another 20 for food, and another 20 for the dessert), and I had to ask for the dessert. Then we waited 40 minutes for pictures with our maid - all the while twiddling our thumbs as they interacted with other customers- except the three minute game that we paid for. Had to ask three times for water before anyone would even acknowledge us. They seem to only speak with people who speak Japanese , or locals. Just a crappy experience. And the bill (for 3 people) came to about $100. The food is cute, though.

::It was an odd experience but one you have to do if you are visiting Japan. And if you do visit you need to get into the spirit and play along - or why else go! They give you a time limit but we went over it as it took forever to get our maid's attention to take our order. We got desserts as we wanted a meal elsewhere. They love whip cream - be warned if you don't like it or can't have it!

::It could probably be an OK place, but after having been ignored for 15 minutes while everyone else around was ordering, we left. Once they realized, they apologized and did not want us to pay anything. I have to give them at least that... The place itself was ok but felt very “business oriented”. Everything felt designed to get as many people in and out as fast as possible. The dancing/singing show was cute but only 1 of 4 girls looked like she actually enjoyed doing it.

::This was fun. Strange but fun. The girls will play games and interact with you throughout the meal. No pictures are allowed except of your food. If you opt for a package that includes a photo, the maid serving you will bring out a photoboard. The board has a picture of all the maids working at the time and you can choose which one you want a picture with. When the time is ready, your name will be called to go up on stage and have a Polaroid taken. The maid will sign it and write you a little message and put it into a little souvenir frame.

::Went with my brother to @Home Cafe for our first maid cafe experience while in Akihabara. We waited about 15 min in the stairwell to be seated by an unhappy maid named うお. She paid no attention to us after the initial greeting. 40 minutes later, I had to walk up to another maid and ask for our order to be taken. We both got the drink + dessert + photo with a maid package. It took about 20 minutes to get our drinks and then another 20 minutes for our dessert. The service is very slow and inattentive for the price of 700¥ (admission) + 1650¥ (drink/dessert/photo package) + Tax per person. We got by without knowing Japanese. Our drink and desserts were both standard---nothing special. My brother said his drink and dessert were too sweet. I do not recommend this place unless you need to cross 'maid cafe experience' off of your bucket list. Also, the floor is setup like a theater, and when it's time to take your photo, they call you up to the stage in front of everyone. Edit 1: Fixed some grammar and typos.
