Excellent Okonomiyaki! I had to wait a bit since it was a few hours before the Awa Odori, and the place was already packed with people waiting.

First time ever in Tokushima, looked for an interesting place to lunch at and found this on Google Map. Of the few places I made reservations at (it’s not a must, you can walk-in, but I had a train to catch so I didn’t wanna have to queue), this is the only one that prepared English menus on my table before my arrival. I think this feels really welcoming as a foreigner. The menu has quite a selection but I only had my eyes on okonomiyaki so the choices were simple, just the toppings. I had the shrimp, squid & pork one, it was nicely cooked and the hot plate kept it pipping hot as we eat (so our faces were red and sweaty too 😆). The table has seaweed, chilli powder and sauce for you to add on the food as you eat. The restaurant felt like a family business and all staff wore aprons and head coverings. The big boss is probably the grandma / main chef. She is quite fluent in English and proactive asked us where we were from and how we knew about their restaurant. The fact that they seemed to like having foreigner customers is the main reason I’m writing this review. They open at 11am and start letting customers in by 10:50

Like dining inside a Japanese Edward Hopper painting. Great food and atmosphere. No idea what I ordered but it was interestingly strange and tasty. Plus the okonomiyaki.

This place is great!!! Run by a bunch of seasoned ladies in their best years ;o)) The Okonomiyaki was great and they have some nice beer on the tap! I will go back in a couple of days with a friend! Must eat when in Tokushima!!

I came from Mexico craving for Hayashi San Okonomiyaki. This is very unique folded okonomiyaki that melts in your mouth. My favorite is cheese and meat . I enjoy the atmosphere here and the vibes from this place are very nice. My favorite place to eat okonomiyaki. Also Yakisoba is a 100!
