::I stayed here with a friend in July 2024. We stayed in a Japanese style room for one night. I had never stayed in a traditional Japanese inn before and wanted to experience it on my trip to the country. A shuttle bus picked us up from the JR station and we were greeted by many of the staff. Everyone was very friendly and sweet. Both me and my friend speak almost no Japanese, but there was an English-speaking staff member who kindly attended to us and explained everything. In addition, everyone else was extremely friendly and kind. The meals (dinner and breakfast) included traditional Japanese food. We enjoyed it thoroughly and found it to be very good value for the price. The room was comfortable and clean as well as very quiet. The air conditioning worked quite well so even though this summer is very hot, we were comfortable. After we checked out, they watched our baggage for us and arranged for a shuttle to JR station later on in the day even though we were checked out. I would recommend Haiya to anyone visiting Fukui Prefecture.

::Absolutely amazing experience. Would love to come back because of the people, the quality of the service, the kindness and the food. Traditional Japanese experience, which was a relief from the busy Tokyo scene. The baths were amazing and also enjoyed the personal Onsen in our room. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a unique experience. Would also encourage people to explore the region, which is now accessible by high-speed train

::We had a great time at the Ryokan! Everyone was lovely and kind and super helpful!! Recommend the private sauna and onsen! I left my sunglasses in the lobby after checkout and they managed to ship Them to Osaka and arrived the next day! Incredible diligence and assistance. Much appreciated!

::Haiya is a Japanese-style inn equipped with a large hot spring public bath. It looked very traditional and in fact they say it was founded in 1884! Though the premises must have been renovated, it looked a little bit old. However, it was well maintained and the stay was quite comfortable. In my opinion, this is where you can enjoy the very traditional Japanese-style stay, that is worthy of being a tourist destination. In the beautiful Japanese style courtyard, there was a pond where beautiful carps swimming. The big hot spring public bath was also worth trying. They serve quality Japanese dinner and breakfast and you will love it if you are a Japanese-food lover. The location is not very convenient, I mean it is not near major Japanese cities such as Tokyo and Kyoto. And the stay is a bit pricy. But as a sightseeing spot, not just a place to stay, I am sure this place is a very good choice.

::Awara is not rating as the best onsen region in Japan. Haiya Ryokan in fact gave me one of the most impressive experience for staying in an onsen ryokan. The service was excellent with very attentive staff. Food, room condition, onsen condition are also very good. It’s close to those site seeing spots. Definitely a good choice, especially when u want a cozy hotel , not one that hosting over hundreds guests
