::Since it's a popular restaurant, we left early in the morning 🚙 I arrived at the store an hour and a half before it opened. I thought it was too early, but people started coming one after another, and there were about 10 groups waiting before we opened. It was nice to have to wait, but honestly it was tough being in the intense heat with no roof, no shade, and no fans. Since it's a popular restaurant and I know that many people will come, I thought it would be better to take precautions against the heat, so I lowered the star. Also, the people who came on tour were laughing loudly and talking too loudly, so I lowered the star for that as well. As for the sauce katsudon, the taste of the sauce was not too strong and didn't make my throat feel dry afterwards, so it was really delicious. However, as mentioned in other reviews, I think the amount of mini sauce katsudon is enough. Also, the sauce will accumulate under the rice, so I recommend stirring it well before eating. It was worth the wait, but I don't think it's something I would go to in the summer.

::I arrived before 13:00 on a weekday, but the parking lot was almost full. There seems to be a wait even on weekdays. When I went, there was only one person in front of me, but when I left, there was a program waiting for me! It's the timing. I was hesitant and decided to order the mixed rice bowl separately. Minced meat cutlet, chicken cutlet, pork cutlet? is on board Delivery time is fast The minced meat cutlet seemed to take a long time, so I waited about 10 minutes, but the regular katsudon came out in a few minutes. The sauce is thick but light and makes the rice go well! A little sweet and easy to eat! It's really delicious It's average, but the amount of rice is quite large! It might be tough for women and small children...but even my grandma ate the normal amount...Maybe regular customers are used to it.

::When I conducted research before visiting Tsuruga I found this restaurant. The website of this restaurant claims that it has 100 year of history and the founder learned his trade in a Germany for 6 years and was with the Chef of the Japanese Emperor. However the photos of the food on their website didn’t look appealing at all. Still I decided to have a try when I visited Tsuruga and I ordered their signature dish, the sauced katsudon. The taste of the food was actually better than what it looked. However the vinegar of the sauce was so strong that I felt like it penetrated my nose. To conclude, I don’t regret trying this restaurant but I definitely had had better sauced katsudon before. P.S. the restaurant shows a commutative plate from Yoshirō Mori, the former Prime Minister of Japan. The plate writes “春風接人”, which means “to treat people with warmth and tender like the breeze in Spring”. However the whole phrase actually came from “以春風接人 以秋霜自粛” by Satō Issai, a Japanese Confucian scholar during the late Edō to Bakumatsu period. “以秋霜自粛” means “to treat yourself with strictness and modesty like the frost in Autumn”. Does it mean that former Prime Minister actually meant to remind the restaurant to keep working on their quality of food and service?

::Sauce Katsudon the most famous Fukui dish! Yo-Roppa, the best place to have it! The rice quantity is pretty huge. If you don't eat so much rice may be go for smaller quantities. But the fried meat in top is incredibly delicious 😋 Try the mix so that you can get to feel chicken and beef cutlet too, but pork is the best.
