::3rd generation family run izakaya that specializes in local seafood (conger & octopus). The octopus hot pot with local lemons in a shoyu broth was excellent. Only 8 tables so you might want to reserve on busy weekends.

::We were the only ones in there and the young waiter spoke no English and our Japanese is poor. But he was friendly, willing and helpful which is all we can ask for. The Octopus Set was delicious, it was better than we expected and it has given us a good memory.

::Considering the price, this is unique excellent value for money. This place seems very historical and the hospitality is top notch. I loved the egg ten Don (but think I would like the non egg version better). The miso was lovely as well, but I didn't care for the squid side dish. The lemon pot was great, but make sure you get the right set as my fiance didn't and she was a little hungry afterwards.

::OISHI!! The best place on the whole Hiroshima Prefecture! We had the lemon pot and it was absolutely incredible, specially the rice added at the end! Lemon icecream was also yummy! Highly recommended! The personnel is available and welcoming. It felt like home. Arigatò from Italy :)

::Locally caught octopus is a big thing here and this restaurant specialises in set meals (teishoku). It seems like the hearty tempura octopus (takotendonburi) on rice is the one to go for. I opted for the cold soba noodle set in the hope of keeping seafood content to a minimum - the side of rice had lots of octopus pieces and one of the small side dishes included octopus guts. I shouldn't complain as there was an animatronic octopus going up and down outside 🐙 🤖 😂 One of those cases when going along with a group of diners. I should add the soba noodle dipping sauce most likely contains fish stock too. I do usually eat egg but the soba noodle dipping sauce came with the quail egg (usually on the side) already added, which is a taste I don't overly appreciate. Definitely not place for vegetarians (where is in Setoda!) but great for fans of octopus cuisine and there is a nice hybrid local/tourist vibe and retro atmosphere with both tatami mat and table and chair seating.
