::Had the most wonderful 3d2n stay at the start of July that I decided to change my hotel when coming back to Hakodate just so that I could stay with them again. Loved it so much again, I booked a 4d3n stay in Feb next year! Great location, lawsons outside (not that you will need it), awesome service (Thank you Motode!!), best food I've had for breakfast and dinner in a hotel/ryokan in Japan and a warm natural onsen in your own room! Massage was great too! (Thank you Ueno!) While I was staying there, I had some unique requests to the hotel such as early breakfast, dinner with friends in another room (different seating arrangements), and sending my luggage from Hakodate. I didn't know the shop handles the luggage delivery so I went pass 8pm (please go before 8pm) but Motode still helped me send all my luggage since I had an early train to catch the next day. Breakfast was also arranged for me earlier than the restaurant opened and since I wanted to book a few rooms for February, Motode even wrote me a card since she was off the next day. (She left work late because of me! So sorry!!!) (Management please acknowledge her hard work!!) Thank you Motode! Went for a massage the first time I was there it was so good that when I went to second time I went again. Ueno is super skilled and I'll love to bring her back with me! hahaha Thank you Ueno! Perfect hotel! You'll never regret your stay here!

::Excellent environment with all feature we dreamed about. Tatami, in-room onsen and bay-viewed public onsen. Highly recommend their breakfast service as well. In a very convenient location with three minutes walking distance to train station. Servers speaks multi languages. Definitely highly recommend this facility!

::This is probably one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at. The service is second to no one. Extremely friendly and every staff member went above and beyond. The lobby area of the hotel is very luxurious and has a amazing vibe to it. The onsen is very big and so comfortable. The rooms were gigantic, clean, luxurious and the in room onsen was such a major plus. Our entire family soaked in the in room onsen every few hours while we were at the hotel. This hotel is extremely expensive but I do say I would choose this hotel again if staying in hakodate.

::Very disappointing stay here at Borou Noguchi Ryokan. EXPENSIVE, NO MEALS, DIRTY BATH, OUTDATED ROOM. Firstly, there were no meals offered for us, even though we are hotel guests and booked our stay in advance. When we arrived, the staff told us that meals reservation only, but by the time we checked in, everything was fully booked. What’s the point of paying $590 USD for a “luxury” ryokan if there is no food. Hotel should give notice to guests prior to check in regarding meal reservation. To be honest, having meals in ryokan is expected. There should at least be another option so all guests can enjoy their stay. Also, the room is very outdated, and not well maintained. The room has stains in the paper window shades, stains on the wood, and rusting in the bathroom window sill. In addition, the pillows for sleeping have ZERO filling (see photo). It is completely flat. Lastly, the private onsen is extremely dirty. There is GREEN slimy fungus (is it mold?) growing in the restroom. Extremely DISGUSTING. This should be unacceptable for 4 stars hotel at this price! Moreover, the room has some kind of smell because of this. Please save your money and stay elsewhere.

::I was very looking forward to stay here especially with Private onsen in the room and good size living room 👍🏻 Especially check in staff, she is good, friendly and well Spoken English however I was a little disappointed booking under my name and hotel staff didn’t notice was my actual birthday No action from hotel 🥲 Actually we had an advance dinner reservation the same evening and we have to request restaurant to purchase cake 🎂 for us and charge to room bill. Especially restaurants we did tell them 1 person doesn’t take nuts but we have to remind twice to ensure no nuts in room . To improve!! — > Since wasn’t crowded and off peak period, >The room refrigerator drinks are free but just few cans of beers and green tea, more options. >some parts of the room needs renovation / upgrade to the same standard as hotel lobby. The price paid was nearly US$500 per night. Overall staff are friendly just didn’t notice some details that is important Anyway hotel is nice & quiet.
