::One of the MOST Beautiful Hotels in the World Big Claim, I KNOW..... It is, though. A hotel that much like the cuisine that shines because of simplicity and not unnecessary addition. Clean lines, high ceilings, nods everywhere to Shintoism and nature, the hotel is breathtaking in it's clean lines, space and quiet. The hotel sits on the top floors of the Otemachi Tower close to the East Gate of The Imperial Palace. The Aman is perfectly situated in the financial district of Tokyo, close to subways and an easy walk to the Imperial Palace. You can easily explore Tokyo without needing a taxi. The lobby of the hotel is an open, high-cielinged homage to modern and sleek design. With no clutter or unneeded accessories, the giant plume of cherry blossoms erupting from the reflecting pool in the middle of the lobby was captivating. Do yourself a favor and have a final evening drink after your night out, the music, the lighting, and the mood of the place will transport you to another state of mind. The hallways to the rooms are beautifully lit, wide and totally unpopulated. Sconces containing sprigs of greenery dot the hallway which you will be tempted to take in but once the door to your room enters will you will be drawn to floor to the ceiling windows laying Tokyo and its maze of possibility before you. Your hotel room is beautifully decorated with simple decorations and nothing that pulls you from the amazing view. The shower and tub also have the same amazing view of the city (I am hoping the glass was not see through because I could not bear to close the blinds as the city is the ultimate night light). Finally, what catapults this hotel into the GREATEST category are the individuals that work there. Without exception, they are lovely. Truly, lovely. They really do care. It's not hospitality, they are kind and helpful and gracious (as were all the locals I met). Please look up Mikki at the front desk who is exceptional. A beautiful person inside and out, I will never forget her kindness and help. Make good use of the concierge- as with all Aman's they have the excursion program down! Tokyo, however, is easy and fun to navigate. I can't wait to go back (and I will be back).
